Professional triathlete Carolin Lehrieder
"To avoid overuse and injury, I have relied on CURREX insoles for many years. I am glad that they not only support my feet, but also improve my running technique in the 5-D LAB." - Carolin Lehrieder
Carolin was born in Würzburg on 21 April 1989. In her youth she went basket hunting as a basketball player. Her only connection to the sport of triathlon was her father Gerald Lehrieder, who was himself an active triathlete. However, Caro Lehrieder succeeded extremely well in switching from ball sports to endurance sports. Today she says: "It is especially nice when family or friends share the passion. It's the mixture that makes it: Training in a team, mental support, suitable equipment and the right preparation."

But let's start from the beginning, because Caro's first start on the long distance was a big exclamation mark! In 2013, Carolin showed her skills: 1st place in the age group and qualification for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. There she confirmed her class and fought her way to a strong third place in the age group. Since 2014 Caro has been competing among the professionals and since 2016 she has been a CURREX athlete. Her most recent successes came in September 2019 at Ironman Italy. A brilliant winning time of 8:48:23 hours means not only a new personal record, but also a new course record.
2021 Caro starts at the IRONMAN race in Hamburg and was able to secure 5th place after an up and down ride - see here the honest interview one day after the race in Hamburg:
Caro's Coach: CURREXPERTE Nils Görke
However, things didn't always go so smoothly: "At my first Olympic distance, the cycling in particular was a disaster because I hadn't trained enough to use the clipless pedals beforehand. I got too slow on the uphill and simply tipped over," Caro laughs today. Nothing happened to her, she pushed up the slope and kept going. "Nevertheless, I was hooked after the first competition. I trained in the triathlon club from then on. I learned what I had to pay attention to, what I had to train and above all how - that helped me enormously." Caro is currently training under CURREXPERT Nils Görke. She benefits above all from the wealth of knowledge of the former professional triathlete and experienced trainer. Nils' lively training group is also motivating: "It's great to be able to exchange ideas with like-minded people".
The key to success
Caro relies on the RUNPRO in competition and training - not least we were able to prove this in the 5-D LAB. She is a regular guest at the Hamburg LAB and puts the treadmill under fire. We drew some exciting conclusions from our last visit, which we don't want to deprive you of.
Strength. The focus of strength training is now on the lower abdominal and rear thigh muscles. Strong muscles ensure that the pelvis does not tilt and that a greater freedom of movement is generated in the hips, which makes a long and efficient stride possible. Caro pays attention to functional exercises and uses eccentric strength training (e.g. Jefferson Curl, Nordic Hamstring Curl, Reverse Nordic Hamstring Curl)
Flexibility. Caro's hip flexors have a high tension. To increase flexibility, exercise such as lunges (long and deep lunges), but also reverse runs.
Technique. Optimising the stride frequency is also on the plan. Caro's frequency was very high, she now uses music for running or trains with a training partner with a lower stride frequency.
Insole. Caro first used the RUNPRO in her training shoe and felt that her feet were less tired. Therefore, she now also uses the RUNPRO in her competition shoe to get even more power during the race.
Caro's favourites:
