David Breuer | CURREX Athlete
Triathlon - long distance

David Breuer (or "Rocket Dave") was gripped by a passion for sport at an early age. He immediately realized that this was exactly what he wanted to do - sport as a passion, sport as a profession. David initially trained on his own, without professional support, until he transferred to the elite sports school in Saarbrücken in 2006 in order to combine training and school in the best possible way. As a member of the Saarland Triathlon Union state squad, he competed in national competitions early on.
Achievements
- Ironman Hamburg 2019
- Rhine Ahr Triathlon 2019
- 2021 Triathlon Heilbronn - 5th
After a successful triathlon career, David had to retire from professional racing in 2024 due to recurring injuries. It was very difficult for him to say goodbye at first; he would have liked to continue at the same level for a few more years.
We asked David if he misses the triathlon:
"I do miss the triathlon a bit, it was a great time and it's a cool sport that's getting a lot of attention at the moment. Personally, I miss the competitions the most, but I also miss training camps with other pros/friends."
As a father of two, he spends a lot of time with his children. His passion for sport is unbroken - even though he no longer follows a fixed training plan, he still does sport every day, mainly cycling. He draws his motivation from concrete goals, such as the bike races planned for 2025 and his personal annual goal of 10,000 kilometers on his bike.
Thanks to his many years of experience in competitive sport, he knows exactly what he needs to do to stay fit. Compared to his professional days, when he trained 15-35 hours a week, his current training volume of 7-15 hours is significantly less. Although he misses the triathlon, he is now happy with his decision and enjoys the new freedom to do sport as he pleases.
David has been a CURREX athlete since 2016. Here's what he says about his experience with CURREX Insoles:
"I've been using CURREX RUNPRO & BIKEPROinsoles for several years now and I'm particularly happy with the RUNPRO."
